Wise Family | Fall Family Photos in Provo Canyon

Wise Family | Fall Family Photos in Provo Canyon

I have always thought that Autumn is the perfect time of year for family photos, but every year I fall more and more in love with Utah in the Fall. The Wise family was such a joy to work with this year. Each family is uniquely beautiful, and I love seeing how each person and family is never replicated. Even though this is my favorite location, no shoot ever turns out the same. I loved how this family was so caring for their baby brother. The light was beautiful, but love makes the magic in photos.

With Autumn right around the corner, I am getting so excited about photographing families in it’s splendor! The crisp air and contrast between the faded grasses and the brightly arrayed leaves is magical. October is the most perfect month for family photos, in the grandeur of the mountains especially. If relaxed, peaceful and joyful feel with breathtaking backdrops is what you love, please message me to inquire about booking one of my limited dates this upcoming Autumn!

How to Get the Perfect Photo| Ramseys Provo, UT

How to Get the Perfect Photo| Ramseys Provo, UT

This Autumn has been such a beautiful season for family photos. It was such a blessing to photograph so many sweet and beautiful families. I love to create a carefree environment so that everyone can feel free to be themselves. Every session has felt like such an adventure. We explored together, finding the beautiful light and locations. We played, laughed, and traipsed about the mountains. It truly comes across when families stop thinking about the camera so much, and just start having fun together, like in this session with the Ramsey Family in Big Springs Park, UT. The “perfect photo” is an elusive goal. Instead, its so much more beautiful to let go, love your people and have a blast together. Let yourself feel all of those feelings of gratefulness in the moment, and it will come back to you time and time again in your images you’ll keep for a lifetime. Who knows, maybe even your grandchildren down the road will look at these and think, “They must have really loved each other.” I sure hope my grandchildren can see that we had so much fun together. As it turns out, letting go of the “perfect photo” is the best scenario for making the most cherished images.

I am so grateful to be photographing some incredible families these last few months. My goal is for everyone I work with to feel a sense of home, comfort, and beauty in the images we create together…like your favorite book or a family heirloom passed down. I want to capture your history as it’s happening, but also incorporate the nostalgia of everything that has made you who you are now. Maybe you’ve felt that way before about something. You see it and it just *feels* right. It belongs. It’s very YOU. It’s more than just making an image that makes you feel good about yourself or something others might deem “picture-perfect.” I want something more real. I want it to be beautiful because what God has made is beautiful, and He made you! That is what I want for every family.

Lee Family Session | Deer Creek Reservoir, Utah

When Taylor reached out to let me know they were visiting the Salt Lake City area, and wanted a family session during their visit, I almost fell out of my chair. Taylor and Austin were one of my early wedding couples, many, many moons ago when I photographed weddings. I LOVED their day, and kept up with them over the years via social media. It’s pretty amazing that we live in a place that so many of our east-coast friends and family want to visit! Utah is such a spectacular place. I honestly didn’t think much of it, or even have it on our list for a visit. Man, we were missing out! Back to the Lee family…it was so fun to get to meet up again to photograph Austin and Taylor, this time with their three beautiful children! The last time I had seen them was as they were leaving for their honeymoon! Much has changed. I didn’t even have any kids then either!
