13th Anniversary | Sonnet 1

Barely grown, yet standing at the alter
We were so young then, all those years ago
White with innocence and green with youth
So much life to come - what did we know?

Now the lines of your handsome face are as
Much a part of me as they are of you
Time’s changed us but I wouldn’t change it
Still so different, yet more the same too

Can one fully know the depths of a soul?
Can two hearts be made fully intertwined?
Still there is so much more to know, to love
Vast caverns uncharted we’ve yet to find

These years have held a trove of riches
But let’s try a lifetime, your hand in mine
