Summertime Rest

The Summer has officially arrived here in the South and so has the busiest season of the year. I love the Summer, but it is definitely a whirlwind! This year is full of work, camps, events, visiting family and friends, weddings and shoots. Sadly I won't be traveling quite as much as normal, but I have a great reason. We're getting ready to welcome our first little one into the world at the Summer's end as well! We are also trying to find time to get ready for that big event! It's so easy to get caught up in the busyness of Summer and miss out on really enjoying the season. Even in the midst of constant going and doing, we can find moments of rest and restoration for our hearts. For me, it can be something as little as taking a moment to stop and soak in the warmth of the sun, letting it remind me of life's bigger purpose.

I love this verse from The Message Bible on resting.

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly." Matthew 11:28-30

I hope you all can find refreshment for your hearts as well as your bodies this Summer!

I'm so incredibly honored to have my own maternity session featured on 100 Layer Cakelet today! About two weeks ago I found myself on the other side of the lens for a mini maternity session at an old Plantation on the Georgia coast. My sweet sister (and assistant) Michelle was kind enough to make this session happen so beautifully. The ridiculously heat aside, the South can be a dream. After stumbling on this location a few years ago, I knew it was the perfect backdrop to commemorate this special season of life. Maybe the next time I visit I'll have my toddling little girl with me! These make me so excited to meet my Eleanora Rose!

Kara | Eden Garden Bridal

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely girl as she wed her man. It was like a breath of fresh air - stunning, elegant and incredibly sweet. Kara is an absolute joy and one of the most precious people you will ever meet. I also don't think it's possible for her not to be adorable. She is such a classic beauty and an authentic person. I'm so excited for you all to see her radiance as well! I've been dying to post these for months! Alas, the wait is no longer! I'll be back soon to share more from their gorgeous wedding!

Featured on Style Me Pretty | Lindsay & James

I'm so honored to have this sweet little session featured on Style Me Pretty Georgia today! You can find more pretty here! This romantic session was captured on Jekyll Island, most of which feature the backdrop of Crane Cottage. The immaculate gardens and architecture was styled after the Italian Renaissance when built in 1917. Walking around the terraces and courtyard provides a little slice of Europe on the Georgia coast. Combined with the gargantuan Oaks adorned with Spanish moss, Jekyll Island is one of the most romantic destinations for miles. This nostalgic and European inspired place was the perfect backdrop for this sweet ,stunning couple and their overflowing love. Lindsay & James danced and whispered in corners as if they belonged there. They are naturals in love. I feel so privileged to have captured such a precious time in their relationship!

Celebrating 4 Years

Celebrating 4 Years

Four year have come and gone so quickly. And they've been the best four years of my life. Our love has grown so much. All the challenges and changes we've gone through have, by God's grace, only made us stronger. Marriage is truly an amazing gift. It's so easy to take my wonderful husband for granted, but he has been the greatest blessing of my life apart from Christ. That is in part because he shows me Christ. He loves, serves and leads in a way that points me to Him. Of course, he's not perfect. He does things that annoy me and I do things that annoy him. Goodness, I am definitely not anywhere close to perfect either. We're both desperately flawed. But that's the part of marriage I love so much. Two imperfect people come together in an imperfect marriage and God makes it into something beautiful. He is the Perfecter. He takes the broken and makes a masterpiece. Over the past four years, I think we've seen a tiny glimpse of that. His work in us is really just beginning. I can't wait to see what He paints through the intertwining of our lives, especially now that our two will become three.

I love you so much Jonathan! I'm so glad you chose to be committed to me four years ago. I have never once regretted choosing you. I am a lucky girl. You've exceeded everything I thought I wanted. Happy anniversary!
